Oakland Printing Company is a full service commercial, and fine art print shop specializing in letterpress, embossing, and serigraphy. As a partner, i am involved in all aspects of the business, from sales to production.
2010-2014, Senior Press operator, The Ligature, Berkeley CA.
In addition to operating presses, I assisted the production manager in coordinating workflow for the letterpress department. I trained and supervised letterpress operators, maintained supply inventory, and developed photo polymer plates. I Also occasionally worked in the pre-press department doing typesetting and imposition, outputting plates to DTP, and stripping film for two color offset presses.
2008-2010 Press operator, Julie Holcomb Printers, Emeryville CA.
At Julie Holcomb Printers, I was responsible for the production of all stationery, invitation, and custom printing. I operated the Heidelberg windmill, as well as the Heidelberg Cylinder sheet fed letterpress. I was also in charge of digital printing, pre and post press cutting, developing photo polymer plates, edge gilding and finishing work.
2006-2008 Press operator / Die maker, Digital Engraving, San Francisco CA
Operated the Kluge foil stamping, embossing and die cutting presses. Also operated the Heidelberg windmill letterpress, and etched copper dies for the engraving presses using the Chronite Super-Etch die making machine.
Experienced in commercial and traditional lithography, copper etching and engraving, letterpress, screen printing, book binding, edge gilding, hot foil printing, die cutting, digital printing, and sculpted embossing, among many other printing techniques and processes.
Proficient in both Mac and Windows systems. Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, HTML/CSS, scanning and photo correction, web and print production, FTP clients and file management.
