Teaching

2015-Present, Instructor, Introduction to letterpress printing, San Francisco Center For the Book.

Teaching printmaking at SFCB has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my work life. Being able to engage with new groups of people from all backgrounds while they learn a new skill keeps me connected to the feeling that i had when i first discovered printmaking, and fell in love with the craft. Over the years i have worked with the staff at SFCB to revise their intro to letterpress curriculum. I was also a member of the Education Committee in 2019, helping to develop the broader SFCB course curriculum as well as community engagement strategies. Student reviews available on request.

Professional Experience

2011-Present, Co-founder/Partner, Oakland Printing Company, Oakland, CA. www.oaklandprintingcompany.com

As Co-Founder and Partner at Oakland Printing Company, I am involved with all aspects of the business. From sales and pre-press graphics, to shipping the final product, I have a hand in the entire process. Over the past 10 years, I have grown OPC from a single printing press in a garage, to a company that produces some of the highest quality printing in the bay area for many of the most recognized businesses in our region.

2010-2014, Senior Press operator, The Ligature, Berkeley, CA.

In addition to operating presses, I assisted in managing workflow for the letterpress department, maintained supply inventory, trained and supervised junior letterpress operators, and developed photopolymer plates. I also assisted the pre-press department, doing typesetting and imposition, outputting files to the DTP as well as manually stripping film for two color litho presses.

2008-2010 Partner, Work Clothes, Oakland, CA.

At Work Clothes, I designed and produced screen printed apparel and textiles. My work was featured in three runway shows in 2009 by the San Francisco Fashion and Merchants Alliance. I was not only responsible for our in house design and production, but also worked with clients to develop custom projects ranging from posters and boxes, to artist books and dye printed textile yardage.

2006-2008 Press operator / Die maker, Digital Engraving, San Francisco CA

Operated the Kluge foil stamping, embossing and die cutting presses. Also operated the Heidelberg windmill letterpress, and etched copper dies for the engraving presses using the Chronite Super-Etch die making machine.
